Water scenes are among the most tranquil landscapes and I love to capture them because they give me joy. Here some teenagers astride a boulder gaze at the bay with what I can only construe as reverence, creating a tranquil image in which the human form is abstracted and takes on a somewhat monumental quality, similar to the rock. The bright local colors and painted effect add a surreal quality.
