For most of us, our morning coffee (or tea for some) is an important and cherished ritual of the day. Besides the warmth, aroma and taste, there's an aesthetic to it. The first cup of java is a familiar and comforting amenity that we can usually count on. No matter what's going on in the world, in gives us a sense of normalcy and well-being. Today while making a second cup, I was stricken with the beauty of the patterns and beige, black and brown hues on my countertop, while the lines of the sink, cutting board and dish towel formed a pleasing composition. I've added a bit of painterly texture, as well.
